About MWO
Migrant Workers Office
Previously called the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) shall serve as the overseas operating arm of the Department of Migrant Workers. It shall absorb all the powers, existing functions, and personnel of the POLOs, OSWA, and the existing Assistance to Nationals units of Foreign Service Posts with regard to OFWs in all Philippine embassies and consulates, and shall perform the following additional functions, among others:
- Verify employment contracts and other employment-related documents;
- Monitor and report to the Secretary on situations and policy developments in the receiving country that may affect OFWs in particular and Philippine labor policies in general;
- Pursue, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy or Consulate, discussions on labor and other issues and concerns with the foreign government and/or embassies concerned, and international organizations;
- Ensure the promotion and protection of the welfare and interest of OFWs and assist them in all problems arising out of employer-employee relationships including violation of work contracts, nonpayment of wages and other benefits, illegal dismissal, and other violations of terms and conditions of their employment.
Mandate
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is the primary agency tasked to protect the rights and promote the welfare of OFWs. It shall formulate, plan, coordinate, promote, administer, and implement policies, and undertake systems for regulating, managing, and monitoring overseas employment and reintegration of OFWs.
It shall promote the empowerment and protection of migrant workers by enabling
and training them to gain appropriate skills and ensuring access to continuous
training and knowledge development. (Section 5, RA 11641)

The DMW is the exclusive home in government of our OFWs and their families that protects their rights, promotes their welfare, and unleashes their potential to fulfil their destiny as co-architects of national economic development.

We shall manage a national reintegration program to enhance their
skills, knowledge, and competence, and facilitate their safe and productive
reintegration in their communities.

Please also note that each MWOs operate within its own jurisdiction and cannot transact with another jurisdiction, meaning if your city or region is under MWO ERO or Jeddah, you must transact with them and not with MWO Riyadh.
